Who We Are

Northern SD Pheasants Forever Chapter #77

Thousands of grassroots members and volunteers of Pheasants Forever have developed more than 19 million acres of pheasant and other wildlife habitats since inception. Much of it is right here in Aberdeen, South Dakota, and surrounding areas. Pheasants Forever has 750 chapters with more than 130,000 members nationally, allowing us to complete over 25,000 projects annually.

Making up a vast network of individual and corporate contributors, we employ more than 200 biologists to study and develop habitats in the nation. We are the Habitat Organization.

What We Do

Protect, restore, & enhance wildlife habitat

The Pheasants Forever organization protects, restores, and enhances wildlife habitat by establishing and maintaining local and regional projects. We work to develop, distribute, and foster conservation education – both locally and nationally.

While we are often though of as a hunting organization, a large part of what we do is preservation. We acquire and preserve critical habitat through public land acquisition open to public hunting.

Our organization also introduces and advances prudent conservation policy and hosts annual events. Some of the events include the:

  • Youth Pollinator Events – Education events are held annually and a total of 800+ children will have attended these events.
  • Youth Pheasant Hunts – 3 hunts were conducted in 2023 and more than 550 youth have attended these events since they were started.

Habitat Partners

Making a difference where it counts

Pheasants Forever can make a difference where it counts the most – HABITAT! We are always working hand in hand with SD Game Fish & Parks as well as U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The Northern SD Chapter Pheasants Forever has funded the following local projects:

  • Restoration of 6,103 wetland nesting acres
  • Planted 397,000 trees in the surrounding area.
  • Partnered with Local, State and Federal agencies to:
    • Purchase over 1000 acres of habitat with hunting access
    • Establish private lands habitat biologist positions in South Dakota to help landowners develop habitat on their properties.
    • Take the lead on the Aberdeen Pheasant Coalition to create more than 4,000 acres of habitat open to public hunting in Brown County
